Zonkers
I love working in advertising and shaping some of the world's greatest brands.
I also love working on my own side projects. Zonkers is one of them.
Several years ago I was kicking a soccer ball with my four year old son. I noticed he was paying more attention to his Thomas the Tank Engine sneakers than the ball. The next thing I know I started sketching sneakers made of soccer balls and other balls. I called them Zonkers.
The Zonkers idea quickly evolved from sketches to Photo Shop comps to a licensing deal to production in China to trade shows in Las Vegas to an appearance on "The Big Idea" to distribution in Foot Locker and The Athlete's Foot.
Along the way I also created a pretty cool print and in-store campaign that won a few awards. All in all it's been a pretty successful run for a side project.
